The Florida Department of Transportation District One conducted a Project Development and Environment Study to evaluate improvements to SR 29 from CR 80A (Cowboy Way) to north of CR 731 (Whidden Road) in Hendry and Glades Counties. This project will widen SR 29 from two and three lanes to four lanes and includes a new bridge over the Caloosahatchee River.
This project is currently in the concept re-evaluation phase. Appraisals for right-of-way acquisition are scheduled to begin in 2027. A Public Hearing was held on April 25, 2025. You can view the presentation here.
